Council of Seven

The Council of Seven – formed after the creation of Illithia as the governing body of the underworld. Since the time of their exile, both willing or otherwise, the Council of Seven have not been seen or heard from since and the greater demon's that currently govern each Illithian realm are thought to be their successors.

Asmodeus – Wrath – Asmodeus is the destruction wrath brings when anger turns to rage and desire turns to obsession. Birthed from the eruption of a volcano.

Beelzebub – Gluttony – All-consuming, insatiable hunger, ruling over the insect kingdom later known as the Lord of the Flies. He rules over the carrion feeders of the world that consume everything and anything in their wake leaving only waste behind and is known as the master of decay.

Leviathan – Envy – Adriel’s pet serpent, Leviathan grew and grew until he was so large the surface world could no longer support him. He had no choice but to seek refuge in the depths of ocean. He created the various life forms of the vast oceans from his own scales.  

Lilith – Lust – Born out of Jezzriel’s constant vanity, Lilith emerged from the oceans as a mirror image of the angel she was meant to portray as prank played against Jezzriel by Leviathan after taking dominion over her waters. Originally seen as sisters Lilith would slowly steal the attentions of those around her eventually earning her exile to Illithia. 

Mammon – Greed – Mammon draped himself in the gold and jewels that surrounded him. He sits atop a golden throne surrounded by the riches of the land. Flowing rivers of living gold flow through his realm luring would be lost souls to their demise. Originally created by Gandriel as a protector for those riches, Mammon found humor in temping the races of the world with the very riches he was tasked to protect. No one was safe from his influence, from rulers and kings to the basic commoner, all were susceptible to his promises of wealth and power. 

Belphegor – Sloth – Emerging from the darkness of night, this devil lord feeds off of the laziness and apathy of those around him. Often partnering with Mammon, leading would be wealth seekers to possess false intellect tricking them into get rich quick schemes devouring an individual’s ambitions and drive making them physically stagnant, intellectually lazy, and entirely dependent on others to survive. 

Lucifer – Pride – Often referred to as The Light Bringer or Morning Star, his absolute refusal to accept a master caused him to stand apart from others of his kind. Given his radiant beauty and perfection, Lucifer refused to bow down to anyone. As such, he created Illithia as a form of rebellion against the goddess and was later designated as the Emperor over Illithia by the other devils known later as the Council of Seven.
